858 The Label was created in 2020 but our dream and inspiration started in 2017 by our founder Chelsea Mapes with a mission to help bridge the gap of health and wellness and fashion. When you feel good you look good. We aim to build confidence from the inside, outside.

Growing up in San Diego, CA, access to the beach, green juices, and sunshine are endless, making health and wellness and beachwear always accessible. Why cant we share the West Coast lifestyle with the rest of the world?

Not forgetting her dream, Chelsea chased another passion. As an athlete, Chelsea went to college in New York, to play D1 lacrosse. She saw a huge gap in the styles of clothing that were available to women who were athletic and had all different body types as well as a gap in the education of overall health and wellness.

“As a D1 athlete I saw a lot of misguided information of how to fuel your mind and body in this industry. For women athletes we are pictured to have a certain body type and feel the pressure to look a certain way. Which can lead to a lot of people developing unhealthily expectations from this. It is unrealistic and unhealthy to have these images of what you “should be” just because you are an athlete. Thats why I am so passionate about incorporating health and wellness with feel good designs to make anyBODY feel confident and sexy.” -Chelsea

In college, friends and teammates would ask her health and wellness questions as well as where they could get her clothes and bikinis. She realized she was recommending so many different brands for her friends that why not create her own brand where she can personally design items that will build confidence, and promote a strong, healthier life.
